Long-time readers of this blog know that two recurring themes that I often harp on about are Silicon Valley No Longer Has A Monopoly On Innovation, and Immigrants Often Make The Best Entrepreneurs.
So whenever I see data which reinforces these convictions, I have a tendency to amplify it.
While the US government relentlessly tightens restrictions on immigration, often surreptitiously and sometimes overtly like in the present moment, the European Union distinguishes itself by providing numerous paths to legal immigration for entrepreneurs.
Gonz Sanchez at SeedTable in Barcelona has neatly compiled a detailed spreadsheet of the various immigration visas available to entrepreneurs across many EU countries. Below is an excerpt of some of the most notable programs. However for any aspiring entrepreneurs feeling constrained within your home country’s domestic borders, I encourage you to take a look at Gonz’s exhaustive list here.
Bravo to Gonz for this effort, and bravo to the European Union for these wise policies. I submit that other regions should take note.
