Le Journal du Net today presents a concise summary of the performance of France’s internet pure players, segmented by domain and business model.
For the internet portals, the general diagnosis is negative, largely due to the decline in online ad spending and the ensuing downward pressure on CPM’s during the economic crisis. AOL France closed up its operations following a 12 M€ tax fine. One notable exception is SeLoger, which remained stable but consistently generated almost 18 M€ in net income (as well as acquisition rumors by Axel Springer AG).
The performance of internet intermediaries were mixed, the best performer being LeBonCoin.fr, which generated a 20% profit margin.
Emailing services like EmailVision consistently attained double-digit growth.
Same goes for mobile content platforms, which uniformly demonstrated double-digit growth rates. Interestingly, MoMac would top this list, though with its headquarters in The Netherlands it is excluded from this ranking.
I encourage you to peruse the article for data on some additional segments.
