VC internship in Japan: technical role

First off I’d like to publicly thank Andréas for his technical heroics over the past few months with me in Tokyo. It was the first time I hired an intern in a technical capacity for our investment fund, and that worked out pretty well. So I’m going to do it again. Here’s a summary of the role and requirements for any interested candidates.

Venture capital internship

  • Academic year:  2019 / 2020
  • Time period:  2 to 6 months, flexible start date
  • Main location:  Tokyo (visa sponsorship possible)

Offer:

  • seeking tech developer to assist with technology due diligence of investment opportunities (e.g. enterprise software, AI, blockchain) as well as coding API calls for a cryptocurrency project
  • access to investment pitches, board meetings, negotiations, strategy discussions, deal evaluations, and any other related activities that occur during the period of the internship.
  • exposure to an array of inspirational entrepreneurs and ventures in the tech space
  • training in the methods, practices, and tools employed in the venture capital business
  • Visa sponsorship in Japan (subject to approval by Japanese government)
  • pending good performance, an endorsed recommendation into a variety of careers
  • a unique experience of a lifetime

Minimum qualifications:

  • a mature mindset and ability to work autonomously in an unstructured environment, often without supervision
  • an open-mind, interest in Japanese culture (language ability not required)
  • technical competency in python, javascript, vue.js and basic development tools
